The 9th meeting of Punjab Human Organ Transplant Authority (PHOTA) held at University of Health Sciences (UHS) in Lahore, Pakistan, on February 27, 2018. The meeting was chaired by Khawaja Salman Rafique, Minister Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education, Punjab. Mr. Najam Ahmad Shah, Secretary for Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Department, Punjab, was present on this occasion. The meeting was led by Prof. Faisal Masud, Director General PHOTA / VC, UHS. Prof. Dr. Saeed Akhtar, President and CEO of Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute and Research Center, was the chief guest. Several clinical professionals and law makers, who worked together on this act, were also part of the meeting.
The participants discussed the suggested amendments in PHOTA Act and made recommendations to eliminate confusion for better implementation of the proposed law. At the end of the meeting, Prof. Faisal Masud thanked the participants and Government of Punjab for their collaborative efforts in drawing up the most important legislation.
