PHOTA holds 11th Meeting of its Monitoring Authority in Lahore

The 11th meeting of Punjab Human Organ Transplant Authority (PHOTA) held on May 31, 2018 at Drug Testing Laboratory, Primary & Secondary Healthcare Department, Lahore. The meeting was chaired by Khawaja Salman Rafique, Minister Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education, Punjab. Mr. Najam Ahmad Shah, Secretary for Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Department, Punjab, was present on this occasion. The meeting was led by Prof. Faisal Masud, Director General PHOTA. Several clinical professionals and law makers, who worked together on this act, were also part of the meeting. 

The participants discussed the suggested amendments in PHOTA Act and complaints againsts Al-Sayed Kidney Hospital, Rawalpindi, Bahria Town Hospital, Lahore & Shaikh Zayed Hospital, Lahore. Three sub committees were constituted to look into the matter and iinitial nvestogations related to their cases. The collaboration plan with DTI Foundation, Barcelona for cadaveric transplantation in Punjab was discussed at length. The commitee agreed to hire the services of DTI Foundation. The Meeting ended with vote of thanks.
